Welcome to the Stow-Munroe Falls City Schools’ Operational Services website. This office oversees all of the business operations of our district including Security, Nutrition Services, Fleet Management, Environmental Services (comprising of all custodial and maintenance of buildings and grounds), Technology, facility rentals, and business services/purchasing.
An interesting fact is that we have eleven buildings that total 644,702 square feet of space. The district owns and maintains over 260 acres. For perspective, we comprise a larger campus than Akron University (223), University of Youngstown (175) or Cleveland State (85). Our district buses drive almost 3,000 miles per day, not including field trips or trips to athletic competitions. Our foodservice operations prepare 2,000 quality meals per day. The staff in all departments under Operational Services work hard to make sure our district runs smoothly, makes the right decisions, and is fiscally responsible with our funds.

WHAT ARE PERMANENT IMPROVEMENT (PI) FUNDS?
Managing the overall facility maintenance for a district the size of Stow-Munroe Falls City School District is daunting. Similar to the 70's commercial where the mechanic states, "You can pay me now or pay me later." When it comes to sustaining the facilities we have, a dedicated Permanent Improvement fund is vital. It is important to remember that the dollars collected from a PI levy go directly into the capital fund and are walled off. They cannot by law be used for operational expenses like staff salaries. The Permanent Improvement dollars are our community's commitment to maintain and provide upkeep of the school buildings and facilities saving money through planned maintenance instead of reactive maintenance that almost always costs more in an emergency.

The Operational Services Department is responsible for approximately 770,409 million square feet of physical space which consists of 10 buildings, athletic fields, stadium and track on over 251 acres of property.
The Stow-Munroe Falls School District's Operational Services Department takes pride in its important role as a support service, providing safe, comfortable buildings for the District's students and staff.
