On August 10, 2020 Summit County Public Health released new recommendations for the opening of schools. Due to the requirement of 6' social distance for all students and additional requirements from the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) and Center for Disease Control (CDC), SMFCSD will be forced to now open in the new Orange/Red Status, which is our hybrid learning model in the event Summit County is in Yellow, Orange or Red designation at the time school starts. In order for SMFCSD to remain transparent with all of our families, please know that some level of risk will always be present when students and school district employees occupy school district facilities.
We recognize this change may result in families needing to switch their plan selection. Due to this new information, we will allow our families to email email@example.com with their students name, building, grade, and plan. Plan changes can only be made through Thursday, August 13 at 11:59pm.
As a reminder, students with last names beginning A-L will attend school in person Monday/Tuesday and remotely learn Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Students with last names M-Z will attend in person Thursday/Friday while remote learning Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. If you have extenuating circumstances or students living in the same home with different last names please contact your building principal to request a change. We are requesting that all families (even those that made a designation in FinalForms) to please contact your building principal to request a change between Group A and Group B. This building principal contact must be made to complete any switch between Group A and Group B.
