Kathy Schmidt

My name is Kathy Schmidt and I am currently serving as a School Counselor for Lakeview Intermediate School in Stow Munroe Falls.  This is my 27th year at Stow having served our families in nearly all of the elementaries and at Kimpton Middle School.  I started my teaching in Spanish for 5 years in the Akron Public Schools system.  I love and am devoted to my students and their families and I especially love my ROX girls as they learn the skills of confidence and assertiveness.  My husband of 36 years and I have raised 5 adult children, 3 of whom are strong, independent women who are also currently raising 2. 5 granddaughters. (one on the way)!  I am proud to be a ROX facilitator and a founding member of our ROX group!

Hello!  I am a mental health therapist employed by Child Guidance and Family Solutions who has contracted with Stow Munroe Falls school district to have me at Lakeview and Kimpton.  I have been working with the district since 2016.  I have said in the past “you couldn’t pay me to go back to middle school” I laugh at times my that my job has taken me back there, but I am so appreciative of the opportunity to help students during their middle school journey and that includes my time with ROX, I know  we are providing the skills and perspective they will take into their own adulthood.

Frances Penney

My name is Frances Penney and I am a 5-6th grade ELA and Social Studies teacher at Lakeview Intermediate. I have taught in Stow for 14 years, and I truly enjoy working with this age group. I have been an educational assistant in elementary special education classrooms, a substitute teacher, after school tutor, and also taught ESL for adults. I love teaching, and I also love being part of a group that encourages confidence and assertiveness in young women. I take pride in being one of the facilitators that helps to teach our ROX girls how to be confident and proud of who they are and also impact other girls in a positive way.

I am a school counselor at Kimpton Middle School, and I have the best job in the world!  I started my career in education as a high school math teacher, but my favorite part of my job was getting to know my students every year.  Counseling has been a dream come true, career-wise.  In my personal life, I’m fortunate enough to have a daughter and a son who make me laugh and challenge me daily.  As a family, we love to hike and kayak.  I also enjoy baking, exploring new places, and reading.  I believe in the ROX program and love that it brings a wide variety of females together!

I am the Kimpton Middle School LIbrary Media Specialist. I started teaching in 2001. I have worked with middle school students since 2016 and I taught high school English before that. I absolutely love the ROX program, and I am so happy that we are able to have it here at Stow! Our middle school students are in such a significant transition in life and the ROX program gives us an opportunity to connect with young women in a way that we might not otherwise have. When I am not in school, I love reading, boating and spending time with my family and friends.

Karin Hillman
Hi! I am a school counselor at Stow-Munroe Falls High School. I have been in education since 2011 ever since I left my marketing career to become a school counselor! Throughout my time in education, I have been a substitute teacher, coach, administrative assistant, and since 2015 have served as a middle and now high school counselor! One of my favorite parts of being a counselor is being able to hear the unique stories of each student I get to work with. I'm always amazed at how much resilience students have, and will never take for granted the privilege it is to be trusted enough by students to help support them in their stories. I'm so excited to bring ROX to our high school girls so they can be reminded of how strong and powerful they are and that the world benefits because of them.

Mackenzie Schloss

Hi! My name is Mackenzie Schloss and I am so excited to be a part of the ROX program at Stow-Munroe Falls School District. This coming school year, I will be teaching 3rd Grade at Highland Elementary in Stow, OH, as well as coaching Cross Country and Track & Field at SMF High School. A few of my other passions include spending time outdoors with my husband, hanging out with our pet bunny, and visiting family. We will be very busy painting and moving into our new house this summer! :) I am new to the ROX organization so I am looking forward to sharing the skills, knowledge, and insight that I gain through ROX training with my student-athletes. Can't wait to get started!

Sarah Noviski

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist currently working at Woodland Elementary and Stow-Munroe Falls High School.  I also have experience working at Kimpton Middle School.  I am thrilled to be a part of such an amazing organization and can’t wait to share ROX with the students at the High School.  I have a passion for giving all students a voice.  I believe that ROX gives girls the opportunity to learn valuable life skills (e.g., effective communication, self-advocacy, resilience, acceptance).  When I am not in school, I love playing music (piano, saxophone and guitar), painting, reading, playing with my dogs, and spending time outdoors with family and friends.
