Woodland selected as a 'SCHOOL OF DISTINCTION' By the Ohio Department of Education

In addition to Woodland receiving an EXCELLENT designation on the 2005-2006 Report Card, Woodland Elementary School has been selected as an honoree for the 2005-2006 State Superintendent’s Schools of Distinction Recognition Program. The criteria for this distinction is: at least 75% of students with and without disabilities scored proficient or above on a combined score for all proficiency and achievement tests, the building has at least five students with disabilities taking the test, the building has earned a combined Performance Index score of 100% or more and has met adequate yearly progress requirements. The students, staff, parents and numerous community volunteers have much to be proud of. The rigorous academic program within the Stow-Munroe Falls District continues to keep all of us focused on Student Achievement.

FUN FACTS:
  • Our school was built in 1954 and holds 18 classrooms.
  • Stow-Glen partnership - Book Buddies is a program with seniors at Stow-Glen. Children meet about twice a month and read together with some residents from Stow-Glen. Senior citizens are also invited for lunch at the school about once a month. This program will begin in the Spring.
  • Our Reading Club is a PTA sponsored club that promotes reading Caldecott and Newberry Books.  Our 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students had 92% participation with a combined total of 1,735 books read during the first quarter!

  • We are the proud home of the "Woodland Singing Cardinals".  Our 4th Grade Choir meet every Thursday morning under the direction of Ms. Gloria Gasser.  See school newsletter for performance dates.
