Student Survey - Guidance Services

In the interest of providing the highest quality in guidance services to our students, we are administering a Guidance Services Survey to students in grades 4-12.  The survey is voluntary and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Student input will be very important in any changes we make to the guidance program.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Please click this link to take the survey.

Study Island

All students have a Study Island account that they will use during the school year. These accounts will stay active throughout the year and into summer.

In order for them to work on their skills over the site they will need a user name and password. Their password is “stow” and their username is their last name followed by the last four digits of their student ID number, which can be found at the top of their report card.

In order to take advantage of Study Island please go to www.studyisland.com and sign in on the left hand side.

We would encourage all students to take advantage of this opportunity!

Academic Content Standards

Parents: Want to know what students should know and be able to do by the end of each grade? Go to the Ohio Dept. of Education's website and search for the  Ohio Academic Standards. This site will give you an overview of the standards as well as provide tools you can use to check what your child is learning at each grade and to know what to expect each year.

Kindergarten Registration

Stow-Munroe Falls City Schools is currently registering for kindergarten for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year.  Completion of kindergarten is required for children before entering first grade.  If your child is five years old on or before August 1, 2013, you may register him/her for kindergarten. Students who are not eligible due to age may download and print a packet for early entrance to kindergarten testing (click here to print testing packet).  Please call 330-689-5430 with questions. Packets will be accepted beginning in late April with testing occurring in early June.  Students not age eligible for kindergarten will not be able to register until the testing is completed.

SMFCSD will continue to provide the current half-day kindergarten program as well as the all-day kindergarten program for the 2013-2014 school year. The cost of all-day kindergarten is yet to be determined pending legislation of Governor Kasich. Tuition will be payable on a semester basis. A deposit in the amount of $100.00 is required at time of registration.  If you are unsure of your current home school of attendance, please feel free to contact the Board of Education office at 330.689.5445.

Please note that in addition to the registration packet (click here to download and print the KG enrollment packet), the following documents are required for registration:

  • child's original or certified copy of birth certificate or official passport if not a U.S. citizen
  • immunization records and completed medical packet for entering kindergarten (click here for medical packet) - medical packet is also found as part of KG enrollment packet
  • proof of residency (utility bill, lease agreement, home deed) from your home address (no phone bills please)
  • your driver's license or other photo i.d.
  • court documents that pertain to custody of the child designating residential parent for education (if applicable)

A full set of originals (and one copy of each document) is required for registration. Copying of documents along with filling out the registration packet in advance will be time saving to parents.

Original or notarized copy of birth certificates are required for registration.  It is not necessary to bring the new student to Parent Information Night and the registration appointment. The registration process should take approximately 15 minutes if your registration packet is filled out in advance.

Library Renovation

The Highland Library has ungone big changes over the summer!

As a result of a multi-year committment by the PTA,  we were able to purchase new shelving, carpet, and paint for our library.  During the spring, several parent volunteers worked tirelessly to pack up our entire collection.  This August about 20 SMF High School students representing the National Honor Society and Student Council, not only unpacked and reshelved the entire colection, but also worked with the librain to start to crosscheck the numbering system. We could not have accomplished this renovation without the support of the PTA, parent volunteers and the highschool volunteers.

Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen!

70th Anniversary

70 Years of Academics and Community!

In 2009 we celebrated our 70th anniversary making Highland the oldest school in Stow and Munroe Falls. We are proud of our continued focus on student development and providing the best education to the children of our community.

Book Donation

As a service project, Highland Troop 1015 donated books to the Highland Library. The girls each picked a book to be added to the library collection and presented them to Mr. Worcester, media specialist. Thank you to this troop for doing such a great job on this project!
