Kindergarten Registration

Stow-Munroe Falls City Schools are prepared to begin the registration process for our next kindergarten class of the 2012-2013 school year.  Completion of kindergarten is required for children before entering first grade.  If your child will be five years old on or before August 1, 2012, you may register him/her for kindergarten. Students who are not eligible due to age may download and print a packet for early entrance to kindergarten testing (click here to print testing packet) or call 330-689-5430 for more information. Packets will be accepted beginning in late April with testing occurring in early June.  Students not age eligible for kindergarten will not be able to register until the testing is completed.

SMFCSD will continue to provide the current half-day kindergarten program as well as the all-day kindergarten program for the 2012-2013 school year. The cost of all-day kindergarten is $2,861.58. Tuition will be payable on a semester basis. A deposit in the amount of $100.00 is required at time of registration.  If you are unsure of your current home school of attendance, please contact the transportation department at 330.689.5200 ext. 8894.

The District is hosting a series of Parent Information Night to provide more specific and in-depth information to parents.  During the course of the evening, parents will have the opportunity to ask questions and sign up for an appointment to register at the Board of Education office.  Parents will receive a registration packet to complete and bring to your scheduled appointment.  Please see below the list of dates and times for all elementary buildings:

Library Renovation

The Highland Library has ungone big changes over the summer!

As a result of a multi-year committment by the PTA,  we were able to purchase new shelving, carpet, and paint for our library.  During the spring, several parent volunteers worked tirelessly to pack up our entire collection.  This August about 20 SMF High School students representing the National Honor Society and Student Council, not only unpacked and reshelved the entire colection, but also worked with the librain to start to crosscheck the numbering system. We could not have accomplished this renovation without the support of the PTA, parent volunteers and the highschool volunteers.

Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen!

Study Island

All students have a Study Island account that they will use during the school year. These accounts will stay active throughout the year and into summer.

In order for them to work on their skills over the site they will need a user name and password. Their password is “stow” and their username is their last name followed by the last four digits of their student ID number, which can be found at the top of their report card.

In order to take advantage of Study Island please go to www.studyisland.com and sign in on the left hand side.

We would encourage all students to take advantage of this opportunity!

Academic Content Standards

Parents: Want to know what students should know and be able to do by the end of each grade? Go to the Ohio Dept. of Education's website and search for the  Ohio Academic Standards. This site will give you an overview of the standards as well as provide tools you can use to check what your child is learning at each grade and to know what to expect each year.

NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN - AUGUST 2011

NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN
August 2011
There is a new traffic pattern on the Lakeview/Highland campus this fall. Please follow the arrows and read the description below:
You will enter the campus as usual from Graham Road. You will turn RIGHT and drive along the football field. At the rear of the parking lot, you will continue around the Lakeview building and enter the front parking lot from that direction. If you are coming into the building, you will park in the front lot and cross your child at the main driveway as usual. No child is permitted to cross this main walk by themselves. You MUST walk them across. If you are dropping them off without entering the building, you will follow the traffic pattern around Lakeview and drop off at the Southeast corner of the Lakeview building. There will be a crossing guard at that location. Students should exit your car on the left side and walk to the crosswalk to be crossed over to Highland.

Dismissal procedure:
We encourage all students to ride their assigned bus home to keep the end of the day traffic to a minimum. If you are coming to pick your child up at school, you need to come into the office to sign them out daily. You will then be directed to wait in our library where your child will meet you. Once you meet up with your child, you will check out with the staff member who is on duty. You must check out with our staff member so they can mark you off the list. This helps us keep your child safe as they exit the building.
