The Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education is pleased to announce the District has again earned the rating of Excellent by the Ohio Department of Education.
Since 2006 the Stow-Munroe Falls City School District has earned the Excellent or Excellent with Distinction rating on the state’s report card.
“We are very proud of our entire school body – students, teachers, staff, parents and administrators for their hard work in earning this honorable achievement,” said Dr. Russ Jones, superintendent. “Our focus on academics and student success is evident by the results.”
State and local report cards measure the performance of districts and schools using four measures including the state indicators drawn from academic tests. Other measures include Value-Added results, performance index and adequate yearly progress.
The District met 26 out of 26 indicators on the state’s report card – a score of 100 percent. The Excellent score also includes a 103 percent performance index which is an indication of the increased number of students scoring in accelerated or advanced areas.
Stow-Munroe Falls High School received an outstanding index score of 107 percent. Fishcreek and Riverview elementary schools both earned the Excellent with Distinction rating. Highland, Indian Trail, Lakeview, Woodland and Kimpton schools received Excellent scores.
In addition to marks on the state’s report card, 2011 American College Test (ACT) scores for Stow-Munroe Falls High reported are the highest ACT scores earned by the District since 2006 in every academic category—English, mathematics reading and science. The ACT consists of curriculum based tests of educational development and is designed to measure the skills needed for first year of college success.
