National Board Certification Awarded to Wendy Paul, Jill Merz and Jessica Kerscher

National Board Certification is the highest credential in the teaching profession. A voluntary process established by the The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), certification is achieved through a rigorous, performance-based assessment that typically takes more than a year to complete.

Teachers who earn this advanced teaching credential are among the best qualified in the nation to improve instruction, raise student achievement and improve teaching practices in their classrooms, schools and districts.

"Not all kids like P.E. and some feel that traditional Field Day events are too much of a challenge. Seeing that they have a choice of so many activities helps them to think, 'I can do this. Maybe I can't compete in a particular Field Day event, but I can excel in Explodemics.' In combining the two, there is something for everybody."
