Community Engagement

In February of 2009, the members of the Board of Education, along with the administration, began a procedure for involving the community, by way of input, in making decisions for the future of the Stow-Munroe Falls City School District. Since then and throughout this past summer, several community engagement meetings have been held, and we have gathered valuable input from the community regarding how they would like us to proceed with the future of our school district.

Over the past three years, $3.24 million has been reduced from the District's budget. At this point, all efforts have been exhausted without significantly impacting the services and delivery of our services. In order to continue reducing costs, we have reached a crossroads at which a very big assessment must be made. Through this community engagement process, we will share the results of the suggestions we have heard from the community and the dollars savings that each of those suggestions would provide. Next we want to listen to the citizens regarding their preferences for each of the cost savings items so the Board will be able to make an informed decision when the next reductions occur. These are big ticket items and the Board and administration want to make sure every citizen in our school district has the opportunity to share their views.
