I've lived in the Stow community for 30 years with my wife, Jo, and daughter, Robin who now lives in Cuyahoga Falls with her family. We have three grandsons, two are now enrolled at the University of Akron, the third at CFHS.

I have a Business Administration Degree from the University of Iowa and retired after 32 years of service with Sears, Roebuck and Company. My last assignment of 15 years was Store Manager of the Akron Chapel Hill retail store.

I've been active within the community serving as a trustee at the SMF Public Library, Stow City Planning Commission, Stow Building and Appeals Board and Mayor’s Commission on Consumer Affairs, a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of SMF, the Stow-Munroe Falls Schools 2005 Levy Committee Chairman and presently an independent Real Estate Agent with Bill Monbeck Realty.

I'm looking forward to working closely with the Board and those in the District on important policy decisions and matters concerning our schools. I appreciate the opportunity to serve.

Having lived in the area my entire life, I am honored to serve on the Stow-Munroe Falls School Board. My husband, Michael, and I have four children. Our eldest, Michael, is a 2008 honors graduate of SMFHS. I have dedicated the last 17 years to the care and education of our family. I possess a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Akron and am currently employed by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

Through the years, I have volunteered in our schools in a myriad of positions including library assisting, office support, tutoring, and Ohio Reads, etc. As a member of several district PTA units, I have consistently served- and continue to serve- on the executive boards and as committee chair in numerous capacities. I am extremely proud to support our band and orchestra, and the Booster Club. Weekends, I teach Sunday School and participate in church auxiliaries and fellowship groups at our church.

When all is said and done, I believe my greatest strength in serving on this board is that I am the rule, rather than the exception. I am a very dedicated parent…with the same experiences, impressions, and concerns that others in our community and school system share. I believe that my familiarity with the teachers, staff, parents, and children in our community and the daily operations of our schools reflects the people’s perspective. I am committed to maintaining excellence in academics. More importantly, however, I am passionate about, and dedicated to, the health, happiness, productivity, and ethical enrichment of each student entrusted into the district’s care.

I was appointed to the Board of Education's Finance Committee at its inception in 2002 and served three terms, as well as serving as the chair of that committee from September 2002 until January 2005.

I have lived in Stow for almost 46 years and graduated from Stow-Munroe Falls High School in 1976. I am also a 1980 graduate of Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in transportation and logistics management. I retired from BP Oil Company after 27 years in 2009 and am currently employed as a director of carrier management with the Kenan Advantage Group.

My wife, Val, who is a former SMF district teacher, and I are proud parents of two SMFHS graduates. I have always volunteered in SMF schools and participated in district related organizations including the Athletic Booster Club where I served as an officer from 2009-2011.

I have a tremendous passion for this school district and our community. I am very proud of the education that our students receive and the excellent work of our classified, certified and administrative staff. I will work hard to ensure every child in our District has the opportunity to receive an excellent education that will prepare them for the future.

I graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and continued my education at Baldwin-Wallace College where I earned an MBA. Retiring from Ford Motor Company after 35 years as a cost analyst, I am currently on special assignment with Ford as lead analyst.

My wife, Kathy, and I have lived in the Stow community for 27 years. During that time, we raised two sons, both graduates of Stow-Munroe Falls High School. Our eldest is also a graduate of The University of Akron, and our youngest is currently attending Stark State College.

Over the years, I have remained active with the schools and community in many capacities. I have served as treasurer in the Kimpton and SMFHS PTSAs, as well as Band Parents. I am also a member of the Athletic Boosters. I have been active in the Boy Scouts of America organization for many years and am proud that both of my sons have attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

Serving my first term on the School Board, I hope to promote a level of honesty and community trust. I know there will be many challenges, but student welfare and fiscal responsibility will always be my priorities in making decisions.
