Entry Year/Mentor

The first three years of a teacher's career are critical for long-term success in the profession. To help make those early years a success, the Stow-Munroe Falls City School District developed a three-year Entry-Year/Mentoring program designed to provide support to all new teachers employed by the district.

The program, started in the 2001-02 school year, has been enthusiastically received by mentees as well as principals.

Here are some comments from entry-year teachers:

"I strongly believe that the New Teacher Induction sessions have been helpful for me. Each meeting has helped me get acclimated not only to my first year of teaching, but also with meeting with other new teachers and an overall feeling "at home" with Stow-Munroe Falls City Schools."

"Not only did I find the information useful, but having all of the new teachers there together was extremely reassuring. The atmosphere was exceedingly welcoming and everyone was very approachable."
