Notes from Riverview

        English, Bulldog, Baby ...             #TeamRV Times              Feb. 28, 2017

This past Friday  was Team Keith day at Riverview!  Many adults and many children wore Team Keith shirts or yellow in support of our 4th grade friend Keith who is bravely battling cancer for the 3rd time.  We were able to clap him into the building as a sign of our support and love.  Keith chose a friend to walk with him and Mrs. Nixon was able to film our special time! It will be posted on our website!

March starts this Wednesday - ALREADY -  and it is a very full month for TeamRV….

The coming week is our Right to Read celebration which starts with a fun Spirit week:

  • Monday 2/27 is crazy hat day

  • Tuesday 2/28 is crazy sock day

  • Wednesday 3/1 is wear something WACKY day

  • Thursday 3/2 is dress like a character from a book day

  • Friday3/3 is pajama day….so that we will be ready for….

SNUGGLE UP and READ which is held at Riverview from 7pm - 9

Friday March 3rd is also the first day of our Malley’s chocolate sale which will benefit Riverview’s Public School Support fund, also called the Principal’s account.  This money is used for extra things to benefit our children such as, assemblies, books teachers might request for specific lessons, special projects that come up and haven’t fit into our budget for the school year.  This fund also supports children who may need financial support for field trips or other needs that aren’t being met.  An example of things the fund has provided for TeamRV in the past includes:  March Madness Book Bracket books, small bullhorns to be used at recess and in case of an emergency, small incentives for our PAWS program and part of our COSI assembly last year. Thank you in advance for supporting our school. This fundraiser ends on Friday, March 17th.

PTA is happy to present the Spring Scholastic Book Fair which opens during Snuggle up and Read on March 3rd and continues through the following week, March 6th - 10th.  This is a great opportunity to purchase affordable books for your children and support our PTA.

March 10th ends our 3rd quarter and is an early release day.

PTA’s  3rd and 4th grade girls’ dance is this Saturday 3/11 at Silver Springs Lodge.

We have recently welcomed some new staff members:

  • Miss Jordan Burman and Mr. Matt Yanchar are both Intervention Specialists who will be with us through the end of this school year.

  • Mrs. Karen Dureko is an aide who helps us through the lunch and recess times

  • Ms.Kaipiana Bhattarai is our new nursing assistant in the Clinic.

Please share information with your friends and neighbors:  SMFCSD is hosting the annual Kindergarten Information Night on March 22nd at the High School auditorium at 6:00pm

Ohio’s state testing begins the week of March 20th.  Fourth graders will take the AIR English and Language Arts test on March 20th and 22nd.  Third graders will take the AIR English and Language Arts test on March 21st and 23rd.  Of course, we want our children to work hard and do their best.  Please also know that your children’s teachers know far more about your child’s learning (strengths and challenges) than one test will ever show. Your children are learners, please remind them how proud we are of the hard work and learning they do every day! Our children are so much MORE than one test score.

Math testing happens the week of April 10th.

.

Spring Break is March 27th - 31st

PTA’s Breakfast with a Bunny is set for April 8th: be sure to get your ticket requests in to guarantee your attendance.  There are amazing raffle baskets and of course a fabulous egg hunt for the children!
