WELCOME TO KIMPTON MIDDLE SCHOOL
Dear Kimpton Families~
I am not sure if it is because we started the school year earlier than normal, if it is because this is my second year as principal at Kimpton, or if it just because time flies as you get older, but this first semester has certainly flown by! Students and staff have been busy during the first half of the year. We have cheered on sports teams on the sidelines and at an energy-filled pep assembly (where team 8-2 won the coveted Spirit Stick), taken field trips to the Seiberling Nature Realm, recognized our students of the month with a pizza lunches, held new student breakfasts, sent 8th grade student ambassadors to a leadership conference at North Royalton Middle School, sent students to Haven of Rest and the food bank in order to help them gain an understanding of the needs in our community, held PTSA meetings, building tours, and we have welcomed new staff and students. We have also passed a permanent improvement levy--thank you for your support! As you can see, we have been busy!
As the first half of the year ends, I want to remind parents that report cards are no longer sent home in paper form, but that they can be accessed through Progress Book. Should you need assistance with this, please contact our school counselors, Mr. Griffin or Mrs. Angely. I also want to remind parents to go to our web site in order to update all student forms through the Parent Portal. Should you need assistance with this, please contact Mrs. Piland, our front office secretary. We have a computer set up in the front office, and she would be happy to walk you through the process. Please help us keep all of these forms updated—thank you!
I also want to remind parents that our third and final night of parent-teacher conferences is scheduled for Thursday, February 16th from 3:00-7:40. These conferences are considered "walk ins", so no formal appointment is necessary. Should you want to schedule a specific time, or need to meet on another day, please contact your child's team teachers. Teams meet every day from 7:15-7:40, and they would be happy to meet at that time. Another important date to remember, is the upcoming Spring Sports Meeting. It will be held in Kimpton's Auditorium on Wednesday, February 22nd at 6:00pm. Please join us if your child is interested in Track and Field.
Just a reminder, SMF is observing Spring Break during the last week of March (it does not back up to Easter this year). Students will not have school March 27th through March 31st. They will return to classes on Monday, April 3rd. Students will also have off on Friday, April 14th and Monday, April 17th--dates that surround Easter Sunday.
Please feel free to contact me any time with questions or concerns, and thank you for your continued support!
Mrs. Palchesko, Principal
