July 17, 2010—The Stow-Munroe Falls High School (SMFHS) Athletic Department is pleased to announce that nationally known sports psychology and sports parenting expert, Rick Wolff, will present the keynote message at the mandatory Fall Sports Parent Meeting on Thursday, July 29 at 7 p. m. in the SMFHS auditorium. All parents of students in grades seven through 12 involved in fall sports are required to attend, and all parents throughout the communities of Stow and Munroe Falls are also invited to attend.
Wolff will address interscholastic sports parenting issues that affect both athletes and parents. An open question and answer period will follow. At the conclusion of the evening, each fall sports team will have a brief breakout session to discuss details relevant to their sport.
Wolff, who has co-authored several sports parenting books, is recognized nationwide for his expertise in the fields of sports psychology and sports parenting. Much of his work has been published in Sports Illustrated, The New York Times, Harvard Magazine, the Harvard Business Review, GQ, Hemispheres (United’s in-flight magazine), Sesame Street Magazine, Child, Scholastic, Family Life, USA TODAY, Psychology Today and Readers Digest, among other publications.
Wolff has written and lectured widely on the psychological pressures that accompany America’s passion for sports. A graduate of Harvard University, he is a member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and co-founder of the prestigious Center for Sports Parenting, the nation’s leading resource on sports parenting issues.
